The book expanded my thinking and for that I am grateful. The author provides just a few astronomical findings as support for this hypothesis.
I have not read the “the kolob theorem” entirely, but have had many verbal discussions regarding it and do find the “theories” or “thoughts” quite interesting.

I too share similar fears of creating way for more “Look at what those crazy mormons believe” attacks, of which I have had many. The movie producers omit that part and substitute Moses hteorem raising his rod to initiate the miracle.
The proposed crossing point at Nuweiba does not even agree with the Bible, let alone logic. These rays are filtered through veils of interstellar dust, which block our mortal view of the celestial kingdom.
For any future readers of this post and those who read this far into the comments, I would like to emphasize a few things. I’m going to go look at the stars. By all indications he used a similar process when translating the Book of Abraham. Every law, both spiritual and natural. I did this because I am both qualified and competent to make this judgement if this were a legal trial then I would be what is called an expert witness. I enjoyed taking what the author related to heart and pondering it out. The studies you reference but do not cite maybe closer to the truth but without evidence who is to say. Maybe that’s no big deal, but it makes me wonder if he had difficulty finding support in more recent scientific publications. LDS youth were influenced by artistic portrayals of the Exodus story and were mistaking the art for the reality. The Kolob Theoremon the other hand, gets the physics and astronomy wrong, and has no redeeming artistic qualities to make up for the lack of correspondence to reality.

One thing that I’ve heard before, and I can’t seem to make sense of is the idea of Jesus Christ only coming to our world, out of the countless worlds God has created. It is also written to describe the future glory of men and women after the resurrection if they keep all the commandments of God.
Regarding the latter two, I’ve never read or heard a convincing astronomical explanation on how they occurred.
