Well I looked at the data sheet and basically it doesn’t say anything about the tab or hell i didnt mpsfet to call it a tab because it doesn’t label it as that etc etc. I have a IRF connected to a 5V micro. Finally should I put a heatsink on the back of the mosfet and one on the top because I can or will that draw heat up through the chip and be a no no? I cant get this to work.
Just use a ohm resistor between Arduino port and gate, and kohm from gate to ground. Yeah that will mosfef. Also I assume both the mosfet and transistor here are both n type? Even at 5 volts gate drive, you are not guaranteed to get a whole lot more than this, and this explains your high Rds. Or is this just not working because I am using the same 12v supply for both mosfet and transistor. Go back to your IRF data sheet, and look at the Vgs th rating of 2 to 4 volts. Just trying to get a circuit working on 12v and leds before I move up to the resistance wire and 48v.
I did order some ttl level mosfets from sparkfun they had the lowest price by far even accounting ebay unless mostet buy a 10 pack from china and wait. Finally, look at figure 4, Rds vs temperature, and notice how it rises. That is a great question TonyStewart.
It just kept the lights on no matter what. And that 22k needs to be 1k to lower switching losses. At 5 volts gate voltage, you can only “expect” 3 to 4 amps of current, and you want 6, so this also should give you warning. The trace is on a PCB and very short, with only a pull down resistor on the gate:. moosfet
IRF530 Power MOSFET
Everything runs on smoke, let the smoke out, it stops running It’s very useful for connecting FETs in parallel, since if one is hogging the current, its resistance will rise and it will draw less current, allowing equal current sharing without too much fuss on your part. On shorter lengths of LEDs, it only gets marginally warm.
Wawa on Apr 08, If your circuit is in an aluminium case this can also be your heatsink. AT the least they should rename it like Vgs Cut-Off or something that makes you think about it a different way. Thanks Pancake plus karma Irf5530 got it to work I think I confused gain drain and source on the mosfet like a newb.
IRF530, SiHF530 product information
You realise the logic mosfet you’re getting does not need a driver transistor. And is “on” when the Arduino is off, and could be “on” during bootup. And that the posted circuit inverts change your code. Home Questions Tags Users Unanswered.
If you can tell me what page and what piece of info says it on the datasheet maybe i can learn where to look next time. My main goal is to power some resistance wire for a heat bender. I will try to post what I did later when I get time but that is pretty much how I i wired it anders except i left out the 22k resistor.
