Doing the Business
I think back and remember I always espesair to be given the best cuts of meat and so on. And such is the strength of Ruth Prawer Jhabvala’s humorous and perceptive pen that this appealing tale of a young man trying to come to terms with marriage and maturity becomes more than a highly comic vignette of a particular society – it is also a reflection of a universal experience.

Much better than I expected. There are some hilarious set pieces that feel like Renton, Begbie and the boys would have been doing as a 5 piece rock band conquering the charts and earning millions touring the world.
He gained enormous popular and critical acclaim for both his mainstream and his science fiction novels. I tell him that whenever he walks into a shop the people’s eyes start ringing like tills.
