Maybe Nora knew he was in love with her and maybe she didn’t. I was more and more blown away as the play went on and by the last page, I was rendered speechless.
In the beginning she is jumpy and nervous. Curtain closed before she can hear the applause, or search for understanding eyes in the audience.

The unravelling is beyond anyone’s control. She was childish, whiny, self-centred and obsessed with money over her children. She borrowed a substantial sum of money a few years ago to finance a trip to Italy to help Torvald recover from a major illness. Helmer has the bank manager’s position.

Simply couldn’t put it down. I loved the denouement. His plays were considered scandalous to many of his era, when Victorian values of family life and propriety largely held sway in Europe and any challenge to them was considered immoral and outrageous. This must be one of the most powerful plays ever written. The play mainly revolves around the theme of a woman’s place in society as opposed to the woman’s right of independence and individuality.
